I still remember the first time I tried a Philly cheesesteak — it was love at first bite. Now, with this casserole version, you get all the cheesy, meaty goodness without the carbs. It’s a hearty, comforting dish that even the pickiest eaters in my house ask for again and again!
1½ lbs ground beef or thinly sliced steak
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 onion, sliced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 oz cream cheese
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms in olive oil until soft.
Add garlic and beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
Stir in cream cheese until melted and blended.
Transfer to a casserole dish, top with shredded cheese, and bake for 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
